University TOEFL® score requirements, with the sentence each one came from

Only a university publishes its own requirement. ETS does not maintain a table of who asks for what, so every “TOEFL requirements for top universities” list is a copy that goes stale the moment an admissions office edits a page. That has never mattered more than it does now: official reports moved to 1–6 bands on 21 January 2026, and the offices below are updating at very different speeds. A stale number today is not slightly wrong — it is on the wrong scale.

This page holds 14 universities and 39 published requirements. Each one prints the university’s own sentence, its URL, and the day we read it. Where an office publishes no number, we publish none.

Where these 14 universities stand on the scale change

1 of them accepts band-scale reports without naming a band, and 2 still stated only a 0–120 number on the day we read it. That is not a criticism and not a prediction — it is what the page said. If yours is one of them, the number you need is not published anywhere, and only that office can give it to you.

What ETS told admissions offices

This is the only source on this page that is not a university. It explains why 4.0 and 4.5 keep recurring above — and it is advice to institutions setting a policy, not a converter for your own score. We do not apply it to any university that has not published a band number itself.

  • Current TOEFL Score Requirement (0-120) Recommended TOEFL Score Requirement (1-6) 100 5 90 4.5 80 4 70 3.5

Reach120: ETS’s recommendation to admissions offices, quoted from the table on its institutions page. It is not a score converter, and we do not apply it to any university that has not published a band number itself.

  • To help you interpret scores from TOEFL exams taken before January 21, 2026 – and since TOEFL scores stay active for two years, you may see a handful of these scores through late 2027 – the chart below compares the two sets of scores.

Reach120: Which is why both scales are printed for every university that publishes both: reports on the old scale stay valid into 2027, so the row that binds you depends on your test date, not on today’s date.

What we checked and could not read

2 pages produced no entry. A page we could not read is not a university with no requirement — nothing here says anything about what these universities ask for. They are listed so the gap is visible, and so nobody fills it from an aggregator.

  • Monash University

The server answered a plain request with HTTP 403. No content was read, so no requirement could be quoted.

    Checked 2026-08-12

  • National University of Singapore

The page returned HTTP 200 with no occurrence of "TOEFL" anywhere in the HTML — the requirement is assembled by JavaScript after load. This dataset only stores what is in the document itself.

    Checked 2026-08-12

Oldest source reading on this page: 2026-08-12. Nothing here is ranked, scored or recommended: the dataset holds what these offices published, and has no measure that would justify calling one university a better target than another. If you are choosing a test date against an application deadline, that is on the deadlines page. TOEFL is a registered trademark of ETS. Reach120 is not affiliated with ETS.
